Transforming Bedtimes With Play

A warm, playful, connected approach to bedtime

Have you ever noticed your child getting extra silly or playful at bedtime? Or maybe you remember this from yourself too, from when you were a child. Or have you noticed your child - and yourself - having many feelings at bedtime? Or your child not cooperating, or showing behaviours you do not quite know how to respond to or connect with in a helpful way?

These moments are often different expressions of the same underlying needs.

Bedtime is about so much more than sleep - it’s about connection and feeling safe before going to sleep.

Children sleep best when they feel safe, connected, and relaxed. At bedtime, their natural instinct is to seek these three things.

A big part of a child’s language is play.

They often invite you into their playful worlds before bed - not just for fun, but to strengthen the deep connection they share with you. When this connection is felt, it builds their sense of safety, and movement, laughter, and play help their body and mind relax.

One of the ways children process their experiences - both from their day and from the past - is through play, releasing feelings and stored energy in a way that helps them prepare for a nourishing sleep.

Suppressing this natural urge to play is like trying to put a lid on a bottle of sparkling water that’s been shaken - the energy wants to come out, the pressure seeks release.

I know it is not always easy, but would you feel willing to see their silliness and play as an invitation for connection, safety, and relaxation? Would you be willing to try and join in their play and see where it leads?

Play is not only connecting and fun - it also has the potential and power to transform bedtimes in your family.

Children instinctively know what they need before sleep to feel relaxed and ready to rest. They thrive on presence and connection, especially in those final moments before falling asleep.

When we join them in their world, we give them a strong and clear message:

“I see you. I am here with you.”

And in those moments, something shifts - not only for your child, but also for you. Bedtime becomes less about “getting your child to sleep” and more about meeting each other in connection, presence, and truth.

In my program, I offer you simple, playful, and deeply connecting ways to support your child at bedtime - and to support yourself. Together, we explore how presence, play, realness, and emotional understanding can bring more ease, closeness, and joy into your evenings.

Not just for your child - but for you, too.

Play deepens connection, leaving both of you feeling more connected, more fulfilled, and more relaxed. It helps your child fall asleep more easily and experience a more nourishing, restful sleep.

In this course, I hope to offer something meaningful to you and your family: a fresh, gentle perspective on both bedtimes and play.

Bedtimes in my own family have definitely not been “book perfect”, but I look back on them with so much gratitude, softness, and deep tenderness. I feel truly moved when I connect with memories of being by my son’s side on so many of those nights.

Bringing play into those moments supported me immensely. It brought inclusion. It brought acceptance. It brought connection.

I’m deeply passionate about helping other parents connect through play - not only with their child, but also with their own inner world, feelings, and needs.

If you are called to transform your bedtimes, I would love to welcome you and connect with you.

Introducing play at bedtime can make all the difference

About this program

This program is a gentle, playful space where I offer deeply connecting tools to support you and your child at bedtime.

In this online course, I look forward to offering you personal support and guidance to help both you and your child at bedtime - plus lots of attachment play ideas to explore.

I would love to remind you that play isn’t only very active or full of energy; sometimes play is very tender and gentle. There will therefore be energetic ideas included, but also really gentle ones.

You’ll also receive gentle clarity about when to offer attachment play and when your presence is needed in other ways.

For two weeks, we’ll immerse ourselves in bedtime play in a supportive space:

  • A private Facebook group where you can connect, share, and ask all your questions.

  • Personal guidance for your bedtime challenges.

  • Two live, interactive Zoom sessions, recorded and shared in the group.

  • One listening circle, where you receive empathy and care for your feelings.

  • Lots of attachment play ideas to try out at home.

Attachment Play is a core aspect of Aware Parenting, created by Aletha Solter.
